Tips on setting goals effectively:
-Always use positive statements

Simply rate the IMPORTANCE of each category 1-10 (1 being the lowest and 10 the highest) so You see what is to be worked on FIRST.
Be honest and understand that goal setting is an INVESTMENT. Let's prepare your returns for 2011 by taking this seriously.
When will you be retiring? 5,10,15 years from today?__________________ Now that you have an EXACT number of years, let's DRAFT your outlook for good.
WRITE a ONE page VISION statement of that year. What will you be doing? How much money will you have? ETC... Take your time. This is your LIFE! Your FUTURE!
Do the EXACT same for above but your VISION statement is NOW a '2' year outlook. VERY IMPORTANT that you do this as it will be DIFFERENT than your LONG-TERM outlook.
Do the EXACT same as above but your VISION statement is NOW a '1' year outlook. VERY IMPORTANT that you do this as it will be DIFFERENT than your '2' year outlook.
Do the EXACT same as above but your VISION statement is NOW a '6' month outlook. VERY IMPORTANT that you do this as it will be DIFFERENT than your one year outlook.
Do the EXACT same as above but your VISION statement is NOW a '1' MONTH outlook and this is where it's CRITICAL. VERY IMPORTANT that you do this as it will be DIFFERENT than your '6' month outlook.
Review your goals every month and reset them every year!
Why do people fail in Goal setting?
NOT taking this seriously is your biggest ENEMY. Some people set their goals TOO HIGH so they set themselves up for failure and quit.

Some people fail to get ORGANIZED with their goals so I have always suggested BUYING a NICE binder to KEEP their goals in, like a journal.
